Today’s adventure was a trip to the Oregon Zoo. I have been there many times- but today was different. I have long Covid and am not able to walk for more than 15 minutes, on flat ground. I have to be extremely careful, to not overdo it (incredibly challenging for an active person like myself).

I have good days and bad days. Today was a bad day. I almost didn’t join my daughter and her husband on today’s outing . I was exhausted- and wasn’t sure I was up to being pushed in a wheelchair. I know from past experience- pushing my Dad up those hills, just how very hard it is. knew I would feel guilty. I also knew that I could not walk up those hills.

We decided to rent from the Oregon Zoo a scooter. At first the $30 seemed too expensive. It is a lot of money. But it was a total game changer! Having the scooter meant I could participate. It gave me the ability to explore like I used to. It was incredible. I could go where I wanted without asking. I didn’t have to worry about overdoing it physically.

It was an amazing day! The animals all seemed to be happy today! It was one of my best trips to the Oregon Zoo. And to think I almost missed it! I am so glad we decided to splurge and get the scooter! Totally worth it!!!
I’M GLAD YOU WERE ABLE TO RENT A SCOOTER TODAY!

That’s awesome! I struggled with this a lot too and wished I had started using one sooner and more often. We went on a trip to Disney world before my second transplant and I refused to use one. I lasted a day but the second day I could barely sit on a bench I was so tired.

Omg. I can only imagine how exhausted you would be!!! I saw with my Dad how helpful it was for me. I definitely am looking forward to using it in Colorado. I have visions of exploring bike paths with it. I hope that Jack isn’t totally freaked out by it!
